For one of your short writings for the class you may want to write a type of literacy narrative or autobiography that sums who you are as a reader and writer and how you became what you are. You may want to think back on your earliest recollections with print and reading and writing. You could come up with a sort of time line for your literacy in English and Spanish, or your bi-lingual literacy development. You may have positive and negative stories about learning to read and write with certain people, be they family, teachers or friends that helped to shape you as who you you are as a writer and reader. This is a personal essay and will require you to seriously reflect upon who you have become as a writer. I have tried to find a few readings that might serve as models for this type of work and came up with this link to Orwell,s Why I write
Enjoy the assignment and have fun with it!

Hey, I placed a draft of my autobiography on my blog. It is a bit long. However, I enjoyed working on it because it brought back so many memories and events that I had forgotten about. Wow! Sometimes looking back can be so great and so hard at the same time.
